Youll also encounter an 8th note followed by two 16th notes. Together, these three notes equal a quarter note or one beat.
The 8th note gets half the beat and the two 16th notes each get one quarter of the beat. So if you count to 4 quickly and evenly during one beat, you play the 8th note on 1 and 2.
And you play the two 16th notes on 3 and 4. Some people say, One-and-a as they play this rhythm that looks like this: Clap and count along with the rhythm exercise below.
