When a note has a dot after it, that means it is half again as long as the same note without a dot. Since a quarter note gets one beat,
a dotted quarter note gets one and a half beats.Listen to the rhythm by clicking on the note.

Slap and count this rhythm several times as you listen to it. Remember that you say each number as you slap your leg;
you say “and” when your hand is in the air. Dotted quarter notes are introduced in Part 6 of the New Nine-Note Recorder Method.
