Sopranino and Alto Recorders & Fingering Chart

The sopranino and alto recorders are in the key of F. This means that F is the lowest note that can be played on the instrument. The fingering for low F on one of these F instruments is the same fingering for low C on the soprano or tenor--all the holes covered.

The Alto Edition of the Nine-Note Recorder Method will get you off to a good start with learning to play alto and/or sopranino. Once you have mastered the nine easiest notes on an F recorder, you will be ready for Beyond the Nine-Note Recorder Method: Alto Edition.
