The alto recorder is an F instrument. This means the lowest note on the alto is an
F. The alto has a beautiful tone in a pleasing range. It is a few inches longer than the soprano and has a lower, mellow sound. The sopranino recorder is smaller
and higher pitched than the soprano. Sopranino is pitched one octave higher than alto. Like the alto, the sopranino is an F instrument. Click here to learn more about alto fingerings.
